You are Someone's Miracle!

The other day a young gal started to share her heart with me.

As she did, tears began to stream down her face. I could tell right away God was up to something.

So, I asked Him.

God, what is going on and what do you want to do?

Is there something on your heart specifically for her?

Something you want to say?

Then I listened.

Ephesians chapter one kept coming to mind.

God whispered to me - lay your hands on her and pray Ephesians chapter one over her, over her heart. Declare it boldly over her future. I felt she was struggling with hope about her future. She had lost sight of her identity in Christ.

(she said I could share this without a name).

Through that prayer - God washed off years of lies ... the ungodly beliefs that held her captive to fear and self-condemnation.

He spoke boldly to her - that she was His daughter, set apart and chosen for His purposes! She was reminded that God is much bigger than her current circumstances.

God wants us to be His hands and feet every single day - to listen to His voice so that He can touch the life of another human being though us!

He wants to speak through us to encourage others!

We must be so aware and careful of the power of our words for good and for evil.

For life and for death (Proverbs 18:21).

We can either bring someone hope or lead them into despair by the power of our words.

Redefining church is about redefining how we view interacting with people. How we view ministry. How we view bringing people into relationship with the living God. We simply have to be present to God and to them in their time of need.

Every day God is sending us people to love, to pray with ... people who need to be reminded of the Truth and how God sees them. People who need a fresh wind of hope. Hope in God and hope in His people.

You don't have to be a pastor or a leader to see the hand of God move powerfully through you - you simply have to listen and obey the heart of God that wants to move through you!

You are someone's miracle! Ask God and then step out in faith to do what He is asking you to do. The miracle will follow.

What miracle is waiting inside of you? Who is He wanting to bless through you today?

Be bold. Hear His voice, then walk through fear and obey Him.

Your obedience is someone's miracle today.

I don't share this story to say, look at me. You all probably know my story. I am still shocked at times that God wants to speak through me at all. It is clearly a work of grace.

When I share something God related on Facebook, it is only because God is riding my butt and wanting me to push through the fear of man in order to obey Him.

Hopefully bringing encouragement to at least one person. Those who hate it or me - can hide it or de-friend me.

But, I can't live by what people think of me any more. Too many people are hurting and need hope. They need to know their life has value.

I share this story today because I believe God wants to touch someone's life through you - and fear constantly tries to hold you back.

I believe God wants to encourage you to share your heart, to speak His Word ... and to step through being worried about what others will think of you.

To step through the insecurities that flood your heart at times.

People need God desperately and despair is flooding into people's lives.

I know so many people struggling with depression and hopelessness right now. Like not just being sad - serious depression and people losing the will to live.

The enemy is working hard to take out God's people and leaders through fear and other things. So, we need to be speaking LIFE more so now than ever! Don't hold back.

People need to hear God's Word - spoken through His people. And yep - you are that person!

Share the Word of God - it is the most life-giving thing you can give.

Of course, being led by the Spirit because then it is always life giving and not just a Bible verse thrown at someone (which is more like a brick than a loving, life-giving hug).

You were created to impart confidence into the lives of others.

You ARE someone's miracle.

Freedom is a Mindset!

"Freedom is a mindset not a circumstance"
- Kelly Glacken.

This is the best quote ever!

Or at least at the top of my list - for this season!

There is SO much packed into this one quote - I felt compelled to share what was stirring in me.

Why? Because EVERYTHING comes down to what we believe. We live life from our belief system. A belief system can also be called a mindset.

When Jesus said, "It is Finished." and He said, "I disarmed and rendered all demonic powers powerless on the cross" then WHY do we believe we are not free - when Christ gave His very life to free us from sin and bondage some 2,000 years ago?

Could it be that the real place of our bondage is in our actual belief system? The problem is not with God, it is with us.

Could it be that we have simply not come into alignment with the Truth - about who God is, what God can do and what God did for us?

Know the Truth and we will be free.

The thing I love about the healing prayer ministry that I do - is the reality that the power of prayer is in the identifying the spiritual issue holding someone in bondage. And most of the time it is an ungodly belief. Simply a lie that runs contrary to TRUTH.

The other night I ministered to a young woman (she said I could share this but without a name).

As I prayed for her - the power of God came on her when the Lord showed me certain words that had been spoken over her - her whole life.

Through words of knowledge - the Lord showed me the words that had held her in bondage for years. Words that were keeping her insecure and fearful of stepping into anything for God.

I had a picture of these ungodly words that had been imprinted on her heart - her whole life. Words that ran contrary to God's heart for her. People, obviously partnering with the enemy - were a part of speaking out some of the most unkind and ungodly words over her.

Once God identified the ungodly beliefs and I helped her to talk to God about them (through deep sobbing) - her heart was able to open up to receive the Truth of God's Word.

God told me to pray Ephesians 1 over her.

As I prayed Ephesians chapter one over her - she sobbed and the years of lies melted off of her.

She arose a new woman that night. Alive with the Truth of how God felt about her. A new mindset.

This is the power of the Gospel! This is what we need to be and do - be agents of the Truth in people's lives.

To help people renew their hearts and minds in the Word of God. Romans 12:1-2.

This is why mind control and spiritual abuse is so dangerous in cults and even Christian churches that have cultic tendencies.

They set up ungodly belief systems in the hearts and minds of their people (either intentionally or unintentionally due to their own dysfunction).

Most of these ungodly belief systems are not necessarily preached but they are lived in how people treat one another.

Did you know that a belief system can get implanted into our hearts and minds - not just with words but with actions?

Have you ever been shamed by the "look" someone gives you - whether it is that stern look or the rolling of the eyes? Actions can create mindsets just as much as words.

A belief system has the power to move an individual towards good or bad/evil.

This is why the Word of God and the Holy Spirit together must become your authority for living.

We must trust those inner promptings in our heart that tell us something is not right ..... or off. We must keep seeking the Truth in the Word and with Godly counsel outside our immediate circles. Sometimes when we are in the thick of something, we need someone outside to help us get a fresh perspective. It is not wrong to ask people for help.

The Bible says, wisdom is in the counsel of many.

We must ask ourself and the Lord - what are we believing that runs contrary to the Word of God - to the Truth of who He, what He can do, and how He sees us?

God will lead us back to the Word of God being our foundation for everything.

The light of God will flow from us once again.

We will arise and shine and the glory of the Lord will be upon us! Isaiah 60:1.

God will lead us back to the Truth always.

He will untangle the mindsets we believed and He will lead us to freedom because it is and always will be - the Truth that will set us free.

Freedom is a mindset not a circumstance. Selah!

The Sound of Silence: Hearing God's Voice!

"Be STILL and KNOW that I am God"
Psalm 46:10.

I love this picture. A picture truly speaks a thousand words.

This picture represents my calling in one simple picture. To help people enter into stillness in order to KNOW God, to KNOW His voice... and to be led by no other inner compass but God Himself.

To help people to silence anything and everything that contends against God moving in and through their lives.

Imagine .... now, if all other conflicting notes fell off the sheet music of our lives .... just how clear would God's voice and presence would be?

Imagine if no other sound (aka note) was leading us - but God Himself?

Look at this picture.

I mean .... really look at it and ponder what it means to be still and what it means to know God.

What does it mean to silence the notes in our life so we can hear God more clearly?

Do we even know the notes that contend against God's presence and His voice?

Can we discern what notes are God and what are not?

These notes that contend against God's voice can be sin, temptations, idols, voices and even desires that contend against our desire for God Himself. Psalm 73:25.

This issue of stillness is exactly what God has been speaking into my heart - for four years now!

I probably post on stillness and knowing God through His Word more than any other post.

Why? Because I believe it is on God's heart for His church. I believe we are being tempted to move away from His Word; which brings life and power.

I believe God wants to pour out more of Himself, His love and His power and the vehicle He has chosen for the release of revelation is .... stillness!

Not more activity .... but more of God. He wants more people like Moses - who are willing to go away to be WITH Him ... in order to bring His presence with them.

Unless your presence goes with me - I am not going! (Moses)!

"Be STILL - cease ALL striving - and KNOW God". Psalm 46:10.

As I walked through multiple neck surgeries and then brain surgery and then needing many many months to recover from each and then having residual nerve trauma at my brain stem ... I was WAY frustrated with God at first.

I use to lay in bed asking God to deliver me from this season. But It was like the hand of God was on me ... holding my body down and saying - NO! You WILL stay in bed because I have the greatest gift in the world to give you - ME!

God spoke very loudly to me and said, "Lori, you need to see this season differently and find the gift I have for you". He said, "I am taking you deeper into an experience with ME and this experience with me can only come through prolonged periods of stillness".

I have to say, I didn't like stillness at first. It is awkward not doing anything. It is so foreign to our flesh. Especially someone like me who is a high achiever and a high D on the DISC test. To be runs contrary even to the way God wired me to be.

However, stillness is the Biblical path towards a revelation of God. Of knowing Him intimately.

Yes - "be still and KNOW that I am God".

We must not fight the seasons of suffering or confinement because they truly are a gift from God Himself!

They are a gift of strengthening our inner man - because the resurrection power comes through the gateway of suffering (Phil. 3:11).

Even Jesus said to Peter, "Satan has asked to sift you like wheat (yes making Peter suffer) but I am praying your faith will not fail you and when you are done being sifted - you WILL go and strengthen others".

Sifting and suffering - strengthen our faith and our resolve to live for God alone! They become our anointing and the power of God IN us - because we've come to know the Jesus of Calvary. The one who suffered much to bring life to millions.

For four years ... God kept taking me into the very deep waters of stillness - the kind that is needed to know God intimately. The more I tried to get up and "do", the more He put His hand on my chest and said, "no, come and BE". Truly the best gift EVER! God.

We will only know God to the measure we are willing to invest into that relationship - into being still and being WITH Him.

If any relationship in our life is suffering - it is because we gave up investing into that person and time with them to love and be loved.

If we are confined to bed or to suffering - we must use that time to be WITH our God! To find the gift in this season! It is one of the most amazing treasures God will ever give us!

Through the years of stillness ... God has been silencing the notes - the desires, the voices, the temptations and all the other sound notes which contended against my desire and love for God Himself.

And yes, I have many. And, I have many areas in my heart that still needed to be healed - mostly, my life was led by the words of man and not the Word of God.

Obviously - not all of the notes are silenced since I am a total work in progress with God - but He is slowly silencing the notes - so I can know God and hear Him more and more.

All the other notes began to fall off the sheet music of my life ...

The sheet started to become empty so GOD could be the only one to pen the song of my life! The sound of HIs voice could lead me ...

If we want to know God intimately ...

.... to be moved by His love and His power

.... to see lives transformed radically for His glory

.... then we must

..... we must enter into deep seasons of stillness, of pursuing God not for what He can give but for who He is. We must enter into stillness ....

.... in order to know Him and learn what it means to abide IN Him

... and to know what it means to live, move and have our being IN HIM and to do life FROM Him.

Busyness .... and even busyness of ministry and doing a ton of religious activity can even be an enemy to our knowing God and being moved by Him!

How? They can act as "notes" keeping our sheet music full of notes that bring confusion to what is God and what is not.

If we don't intentionally take seasons to remove all those "sound notes" that contend against God's voice and presence in our lives ...

... we will not hear clearly ...nor will we know His heart and will for our lives.

... God's voice will be muddied up with other notes and sounds.

What is the avenue for this breakthrough? Stillness.

Those sound notes that need to be silenced and fall off our sheet music could be ....

.... the voice of the enemy, tormenting us with thoughts that are not God's. They could be condemnation, shame, unworthiness ... voices that keep us in our past and do not release us to our future with the Lord.

.... they could be our own ambitions, which lead us into selfish living and not into a life of selfless living. Of living a life of "not my will but yours be done O'Lord". These notes are the stealth ones that we usually do not see until those idols are taken from us. Our own ambitions are some of the most blinding notes that exist!

.... they could be false prophesies that have been spoken over our lives that we thought they were God and so we started in self effort to live those out prophesies - only to find we are now living in a wasteland or in a wilderness experience (financially or in other ways) - and now only death and dry bones surround our lives. We lost sight of the promised land that comes by Faith in the finished work of the cross and in the Word of God. Faith comes by hearing the Word of God.

.... they could be the words or direction of others who did not speak words of life and purpose over us .. but their words only added more death to our spiritual journey. We must come back to listen to the sound of God's voice that is spoken in His Word alone. We must learn to exalt the Word of God over every other voice!

... they could even be just good religious activities that keeps us so busy that we fail to enter into silence and stillness in order to discern what is God and what is just a religious spirit. We could be praying a lot, worshipping a lot, fasting a lot or serving a lot ... but in our heart - we still feel the void of God's presence because somehow those activities became our passion and our routine and our relationship with God through His Word has faded. Knowing God has become secondary to that other experience.

... those sound notes really are anything and everything that contend against the knowledge of God - knowing God intimately and knowing His will for your life. Phil. 3:7-11.

We must learn to silence all notes that contend against God's presence in our lives.

We must learn to remove them off our sheet music so that we can hear God clearly through His Word.

We will be able to hear God's voice, to discern His will and to live to do the will of the Father - when the other notes have faded and only God remains. John 12:49-50.

My encouragement for you today ...

If you are in a season of suffering, of confinement, of feeling like you can't do what you normally could do - if you feel as if things are being stripped form you ....

.... see the GIFT in this season for you!

God is giving you the greatest treasure! HIMSELF.

God is taking you deeper into Himself - into learning how to be WITH Him - through stillness, through the Word, through the simple prayers of silence and solitude.

The world does not need more religious activity and more busyness ... they need people who are glowing with the presence of God - like Moses coming off the mountain as a friend of God.

They don't need to hear about God - they need God Himself and they need help knowing how to get to HIm.

Take time TO BE still with God and to know Him.

What God reveals to you in stillness WILL BE the fruit that will feed others - both in your season of suffering and when it is over.

Happy Valentine's Day!

This Friday is Valentine's Day!

So often as this day approaches we begin to think of what we are going to do for those special loved ones in our life.

We begin to think of our spouses, our children and our close friends.

We begin to think of creative ways we can express love to them - whether it is in gift giving or in writing out a card expressing our gratitude and our affections.

This year, in addition to this, I am pondering what it means to express love and gratitude to my One True Valentine.

I am sure you can guess who He is - God.

All of Him - as my dad, Jesus and my best bud, the Holy Spirit.

So often, I stop to tell Jesus that I love Him.

I do this all the time. Every day. I love to pray, to worship and to tell Jesus how wonderful and smart I think that He is.

He is seriously the most brilliant, loving, kind man I have ever met!

I then ... begin to think that this worship, this prayer time, this sort of devotion to God ... is a full expression of Biblical love.

Although - it isn't the whole picture.

It is not the full picture of what God wants from us.

And Samuel said,

“Has the Lord as great delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices, as in obeying the voice of the Lord?

Behold, to obey IS BETTER than sacrifice, and TO LISTEN than the fat of rams".

1 Samuel 15:22 ESV

To obey is better than sacrifice. To obey and to listen to God in His Word ... is better than all the religious activities we do in order to show God that we love Him.

To obey means - we read the Word and we choose to know it, believe it and to live it.

Not out of duty ... but from a heart filled and flowing with His love.

This Valentine's Day - when we stop to ponder our One True Valentine - I am asking .... what does God want from us ... as a means to show Him that we truly do love Him.

Simply, it is obedience.

I wonder what it would look like, if we laid down all our religious busyness (worship, prayer, intercession, serving, etc..)  and simply got back to reading the Word and choosing with our will to submit to it and to do what God asks us to do?

Meaning, like in Luke 6 - when God asks us to pray for the happiness of our enemies? To GO and do GOOD to them and for them? To GO and wash the feet of the ones who have betrayed us?

Or in Philippians 2:1-8 - to consider others as better than ourselves. How do we live this out every day?

What would it look like if we stopped staying busy even with ministry projects and serving others and instead started to look at the Scripture through the eyes of what God wanted us to do in living out our faith with others? With our family? with our friends? With those on our ministry teams? With those that we lead? Yes, even with those who simply don't like us and we don't like them?

To do what God says to do - is more pleasing to Him than years of sacrifices such a worship, intercession, praying, devotional time (these are good and needed and powerful - God is just saying something else is more pleasing to Him).

We've got to let this one sink into our heads and into our hearts!

To obey is better than sacrifice!

To listen is better than the stuff we are bringing to Him in our prayers and worship!

A big ouch on this one .... if we can truly grasp what God is saying to us in 1 Samuel 15.

This is a hard one to ponder - because for those of us who love to worship, love to pray or we love to stay busy serving people  - we 'think' we are expressing our love to God by our sacrifices we are making.

The reality is - God sees obedience to His Word .. as the higher road, the higher expression of Biblical love.

In 1 Samuel 15:22 - God is clearly telling us which of the two pleases Him most.

It is obedience that is motivated by Biblical love.

So, the big question to ponder this Valentine's Day - is what can we do to truly express our love to Him through an act of obedience?

What passage of Scripture are we truly not living out?

What aspect of our lives is living outside of the boundaries of His Word?

What part of our lives has yet to encounter His grace? His love? The washing of Truth over a wound or a lie?

What part of our lives are we holding back from Him because of fear, insecurity, doubt, unbelief, mistrust, or anger?

What part of our lives are we keeping a secret from those we love? What mask are we wearing that God has been nudging us to take off in order to live transparently with our family and friends? To let them know who we really are - flaws and all?

What is that "one thing" God might want us to do OR even to let go of - as an act of obedience to Him?

God, be our One True Valentine this year. May we show you this week how much we love you ... not by what we say .... but in how we live your Truth. Show us what that one act of obedience is - that you want from us this week. It might just be the door way to the freedom we have been waiting for. Amen.

Love; The Heart of the Father in Us!

LOVE is an attitude and an action of God's heart; the Father's heart in us.

This is the way God acts towards us in our mess and when we are blind to our short-comings - His love keeps pursuing us.

Is God's love in us pursuing others? To build bridges of love with our enemies, with those who hate us?

Only the Holy Spirit can give us the power to defeat the giants of hate, spiritual persecution and murder.

With Jesus - some loved him and others hated him to the point of murder.

Very few were indifferent to Him. He brought up a love or hate response in people.

In our day we don't physically kill people - but our hearts can judge and condemn them ... and we can be apart of the enemy's plan to ruin someone's reputation and calling because of our own woundings and issues. If we think we are immune to this, we are foolish.

Even Peter, God's chosen leader of the church - was used by Satan to prohibit the will of the Father in Jesus' life.

God wants us to see this in ourselves, so we can repent ... and He wants us to be intentional in helping others be who God wants us to be.

We need to be about dying to self for the sake of others.

How did Jesus live in the presence of hatred, how did He keep doing the will of the Father no matter what?

Luke 6 gives us a glimpse of how Jesus walked and impacted His world. It gives us a glimpse of what He is asking us to do - as we follow Him.

Are we truly living this passage with others? Is God living in and through us in this way?

Oh Lord, help us. Empower us. Fill us. Let us not preach it any longer - but truly LIVE it.

May we ...

"Know THE Truth. Believe THE Truth. Live THE Truth." - Perissos Institute.

Lord, help us to know, believe and LIVE this Truth by Your Spirit. Let this Word of God - be our Word that guides us in all that we do. Amen.

LUKE 6:27-36 AMP

27 But I say to you who are listening now to Me: [[a]in order to heed, make it a practice to] love your enemies, treat well (do good to, act nobly toward) those who detest you and pursue you with hatred,

28 Invoke blessings upon and pray for the happiness of those who curse you, implore God’s blessing (favor) upon those who abuse you [who revile, reproach, disparage, and high-handedly misuse you].

29 To the one who strikes you on the [b]jaw or cheek, offer the other [c]jaw or cheek also; and from him who takes away your outer garment, do not withhold your undergarment as well.

30 Give away to everyone who begs of you [who is [d]in want of necessities], and of him who takes away from you your goods, do not demand or require them back again.

31 And as you would like and desire that men would do to you, do exactly so to them.

32 If you [merely] love those who love you, what [e]quality of credit and thanks is that to you? For even [f]the [very] sinners love their lovers (those who love them).

33 And if you are kind and good and do favors to and benefit those who are kind and good and do favors to and benefit you, what [g]quality of credit and thanks is that to you? For even [h]the preeminently sinful do the same.

34 And if you lend money [i]at interest to those from whom you hope to receive, what [j]quality of credit and thanks is that to you? Even notorious sinners lend money [k]at interest to sinners, so as to recover as much again.

35 But love your enemies and be kind and do good [doing favors [l]so that someone derives benefit from them] and lend, expecting and hoping for nothing in return but [m]considering nothing as lost and despairing of no one; and then your recompense (your reward) will be great (rich, strong, intense, and abundant), and you will be sons of the Most High, for He is kind and charitable and good to the ungrateful and the selfish and wicked.

36 So be merciful (sympathetic, tender, responsive, and compassionate) even as your Father is [all these].
